Spring Cleaning

Spring Time

It’s time to welcome spring with other than sneezes and allergy pills.

How about some spring cleaning? Some mental organising of thoughts or agendas,

and maybe planning for the future – even if this means something as common as choosing a new summer holiday destination?

The poll below was inspired by my student, Aleksandra Romanowska,

who, after watching in class the video of a business English presentation

on marketing strategies for a brewery,

said to me that she found in it, strange as it may sound,

a very good motivation source for spring cleaning,

for putting her thoughts into perspective.

Try to answer the question she asked herself.

It is quite fun to consider! 🙂

The question is quoted verbatim.

The answer choices, on the other hand, have been reconstructed from memory. Feel free to add answers of your own.

I always say that there are moments in a woman’s life when she needs to tidy things up, whether it refers to her head or the space she lives in. 😉
Not only in spring, but in general, whenever I have a problem I start with cleaning up my flat. It helps me to cope with my emotions, to calm down.

    • Alina Alens says:

I think cleaning – during spring, summer, winter, or at any other time – is a good way of organising anyone’s thoughts, by which I mean both men’s and women’s. 🙂

    • Mariusz says:

This discussion about cleaning reminded me of a quite popular sentence:
“When the exam session is near, students start cleaning and tidying”.
You know, everything is better than learning 😉

  2. mike says:

I don’t like cleaning my flat. If there was such a possibility I wouldn’t do it at all. I’ve got a problem with it especially during the exam session. My room is covered with different scripts and sheets of paper with notes connected to the subject, I’m preparing to. But in fact, I don’t find it wrong, because each item has its own place on the floor and this, what someone would call a mess, helps me organize my learning time;)

  3. Aga P. says:

When the spring comes I feel the need of cleaning my room, like most people I think. But this year there is no spring 😦 The weather is like in March. When I was cleaning the windows in my student flat with my flatmate some time ago, we had to do it in coats and scarfs. The weather was rather autumn-like. So we decided: no spring – no cleaning! 😉

  4. Łukasz G. says:

To me every spring has to start with listening to a song called “What else is there?” by Royksopp and every time it makes me think of the future I’m about to choose. No song – no spring – no mental organising – also no cleaning of my flat 😉

  5. Justyna French Accent says:

Oh Łukasz, I love Royksopp and this song! They are great live.

Talking about spring cleaning, I love it as well! It’s great to throw away all the useless rubbish collected during the year. It makes me feel so light and free, also mentally.
The best part of this event is going to the waste basket with an enormous rubbish bag 😀 Sometimes I throw away maybe too many things and my room is empty, maybe because I sing What else is there to throw away? 😉

    • Mr A says:

Oh I envy you 🙂 I’m the collecting type by all means. And I guess that parting with any of my precious things (as in rubbish:)) is quite impossible. Hoarding stuff is fun!!:)

    • Laska says:

Lucky you 😉 In Krakow there’s no room in my dormitory to collect anything. At least I don’t have to do any spring cleaning 😛

  6. Magda Ł says:

I don’t like the cleaning part, but I love to have a cleaned flat 😀
When it comes to the spring cleaning I’m really hopeless at throwing away the old stuff – too sentimental 😉

  7. Chrisco says:

I enjoy cleaning “things”,especially in my flat. Spring seem to be accurate for such activieties. I like when the space which surrounds me is clean…
When the cleaning is done we might deal with our privacy. It’s reasonable to make some plans for the near future and follow your priorities…It could be anything what is productive and gives satisfaction…
